Cathopic License

Effective as of May 16, 2025

Cathopic makes content (photographs, videos, and graphic resources) available to users under the terms and conditions detailed below. These terms are divided into two licensing modes: the Standard License and the Enhanced License. Both licenses differ in terms of permitted uses, distribution limits, and merchandising rights.

Furthermore, Cathopic acknowledges the perpetual nature of the right to use Content downloaded during a valid subscription period or under the platform’s conditions. Accordingly, such Content may continue to be used even after the subscription expires, provided that the terms of the applicable license are observed.

Definitions
  • “Content”: A collection of images, photographs, videos, designs, and illustrations offered by Cathopic on its platform.
  • “User”: Any natural or legal person who registers and accepts these terms to access and use the content available on Cathopic.
  • “Standard License”: Permits broad usage of the Content, subject to certain limits regarding printed copies, offline displays (e.g., outdoor advertising), and merchandising.
  • “Enhanced License”: Extends or removes certain limits of the Standard License, allowing more extensive use of the Content for larger-scale projects.
General Conditions
  1. All Content published on Cathopic is protected by copyright and may only be used in accordance with the chosen license (Standard or Enhanced).
  2. Cathopic grants the User a non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to download, use, and modify the Content for the permitted purposes, subject to the limitations and restrictions set forth in this agreement.
  3. The resale, sublicensing, or redistribution of the Content in its original form (e.g., reselling the photographs directly) is prohibited without prior written authorization.
  4. The use of the Content is perpetual, meaning you may continue to use the files you downloaded while your subscription was active. However, this only applies to files lawfully obtained during the subscription period.
  5. It is strictly prohibited to publish the Content on any other platform, image bank, or service that competes directly or indirectly with Cathopic.
  6. Cathopic reserves the right to modify these licenses at any time, giving prior notice to Users of such changes.
Coverage of the License

👉 Standard License

Permitted Use
  1. Distribution on websites: The User may use the Content across one or more websites, blogs, or online platforms that belong to the same brand or entity.
  2. Dissemination on social media: The User may use the Content indefinitely on social media platforms of a single organization (company, ministry, parish, office, etc.) or brand.
  3. Digital advertising: The use of the Content in digital ads (e.g., banners, Google Ads, or Facebook Ads) is permitted, provided that the total number of impressions does not exceed 500,000.
  4. Out of Home Advertising: Refers to advertising campaigns displayed in publicly accessible spaces outside of private residences, including but not limited to billboards, posters, transit advertising (e.g., on buses, trains, taxis), and digital signage in outdoor or indoor public venues such as airports, shopping malls, and stadiums. Usage is permitted as part of such campaigns, provided that the total number of impressions does not exceed 500,000 views.
  5. Printed materials: Up to a maximum of 5,000 total copies (e.g., books, brochures, posters, magazines, cards, etc.), as long as the Content is not used as an independent or complete element in the printing. This includes, but is not limited to, images used in their entirety without significant modifications or creative integration as part of a broader design. The Content must serve as a complementary asset to the project and must not represent the main value element of the printed material.
  6. Audiovisual productions: Incorporation of the Content in films, videos, television series, ads, or other audiovisual productions for distribution in any medium, whether known now or developed in the future, regardless of audience size, provided that the total budget of such production does not exceed USD 10,000.
Specific Restrictions
  1. Merchandising and packaging: Under the Standard License, prior authorization is required to use the Content in physical products intended for mass or repeated sale, where the Content constitutes the primary value of the product. Examples include T-shirts, mugs, calendars, posters, electronic device cases, and similar items.
  2. Sensitive or defamatory content: The use of the Content in defamatory, pornographic, deceptive contexts, or in any way that infringes upon morality or the Doctrine of the Catholic Church is strictly prohibited.
  3. Any other limitation stipulated in the General Conditions section.

👉 Enhanced License

Permitted Use
  • Everything included in the Standard License, without the following limitations:
    1. Digital advertising: Unlimited use in terms of impressions.
    2. Out of Home Advertising: Unlimited use in terms of total views.
    3. Printed materials: Unlimited use in terms of copies.
    4. Audiovisual productions: Unlimited use in terms of production budget.
  • Merchandising and packaging: Unlimited use in products intended for sale.
Specific Restrictions
  1. Sensitive or defamatory content: The use of the Content in defamatory, pornographic, or deceptive contexts, or in any manner that violates morality or the Doctrine of the Catholic Church is strictly prohibited.
  2. Any other limitation stipulated in the General Conditions section.
Indemnification and Liabilities
  1. Cathopic warrants that the Content provided does not infringe upon third-party rights and is lawfully available for use pursuant to this license. However, Cathopic will not be held liable for any improper use of the Content by the User.
  2. The User bears sole responsibility for ensuring that their projects comply with the applicable laws and regulations in the fields of intellectual property, image rights, and any other local or international regulations.
  3. Cathopic shall not be liable for any third-party claims arising from the User’s use of the Content.
  4. The User shall indemnify and hold harmless Cathopic against any claim or demand arising from a use of the Content that does not adhere to the terms of this license.
Termination
  • The license (Standard or Enhanced) will be automatically terminated if the User breaches any of these conditions.
  • Upon termination of the license (due to breach), the User must cease using the Content and remove any copies from their systems or other media, without the right to any refund. In the event the subscription naturally expires (without any breach), the User retains the perpetual right to use the lawfully downloaded Content.
